Orthopedic Surgeon brings robotic joint surgery to the area
Riverside Healthcare is pleased to welcome board-certified orthopedic surgeon and total joint specialist, Mohammed Ahmed, MD.
Dr. Ahmed completed his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine in Chicago, IL. Pursuing additional education went on to complete an Orthopedic Surgery Residency at the Saint Louis University School of Medicine, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in St. Louis, MO. Dr. Ahmed then completed an Adult Reconstruction Fellowship at Cleveland Clinic Center for Adult Reconstructive Surgery in Cleveland, OH.
In addition to his education, Dr. Ahmed is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
Dr. Ahmed is board-certified in Orthopedic Surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. While Dr. Ahmed is a total joint specialist, he specializes in utilizing robotic surgical equipment for hip and knee replacement surgeries. Dr. Ahmed’s clinical interests include
- minimally invasive joint replacement
- muscle sparing direct anterior total hip replacement
- robotic-assisted total joint replacement
- complex primary and revision total joint replacement
Dr. Ahmed will be seeing patients at Riverside Orthopedic Specialists, located at 400 Riverside Drive, Suite 1600 in Bourbonnais, IL. Radiology Opens Central Transport Unit
Our Central Transport Unit went live on 1/4/21. This expanded transport team will transport patients for imaging exams, procedures, admissions and discharges, and transport deceased patients to the morgue. The team will be identifiable by their olive green scrubs. Training for applicable units on how to place a transport request is in the form of an OLIE video. Rene Whitaker is the trainer for this process.

Samaritans of the Year Announcement
Each year I work with the leadership of our Foundation to identify a special person or couple for the Samaritan of the Year Award. Begun in 1974, this annual tradition has honored those who have given generously and significantly over time to the mission of Riverside. In recent years,
that list includes longtime board members Harry and Jaymie Simmon (2019) and Riverside physician, Dr. Stonewall McCuiston (2018).
This year we considered how the Samaritan Award might place an important light on your extraordinary service these last few months. Therefore, I am proud to announce, that the 2020 Samaritans of the Year are: You, the Employees of Riverside Healthcare.
Congratulations! While our typical announcement of the award occurs during the Samaritan Dinner, we have instead developed a video to capture some of the extraordinary ways you have gone above and beyond this year to serve our patients and each other. In addition, you can look
for recognition in the Daily Journal this weekend.
