Check out the nominees for Mission: Possible II

In honor our amazing staff at Riverside Medical Center who strive every day to make our mission possible,
we have created an employee/RMG provider contest called Mission: Possible II (replaces previous Mission
Possible contest).

Mission: Possible II is the highest recognition we can grant any Riverside employees/providers with
recognition and prizes focused on our consistently best of the best providers and staff from all
departments/areas of our entire health system.

Eligible providers and employees are those who rise high each day, consistently living in words and actions the behaviors that create remarkable journeys for coworkers and patients/residents and in good standing according to Human Resources records.

Mission: Possible staff branch out as role models to us all—living our key words and Professional Standards of Behavior with every patient and coworker, striving for caring, positive connections with every person ALWAYS.

We have had several nominations come in for our Mission: Possible II staff here at Riverside.

Kambic receives honorary doctorate from GSU

During Governors State University’s Commencement 2025, Riverside Healthcare President and CEO Phil Kambic received an honorary doctorate degree.

The youngest of nine children, Kambic, recounted his own story of unlikely success in the corporate world.

Having lost his father while still in high school, Kambic intended to apply for employment at a local factory after high school graduation. An impromptu invitation from a friend led him to the campus of Eastern Illinois University (EIU) with a friend, where he spontaneously signed a lease for an apartment for the fall, registered for school, and applied for financial assistance.

After graduating from EIU, Kambic earned an MBA from GovState. Reflecting on that spur-of-the moment trip to Charleston, Kambic said, simply, “Education changed my life.”

He left the Class of 2025 with three B’s to follow: “Be optimistic. Be persistent. Be a lifelong learner. And remember, you are remarkable.”

DAISY Award Winner: Kristin Siefert

Congratulations to the March 2025 DAISY Award winner, Kristin Siefert, RN/Emergency Service!

Kristin’s nomination read: “We had a young mother present to the Emergency Department with her newborn and toddler seeking mental health services. She did not have a support system and had no safe place to bring the children in order for her to seek treatment so she brought them with her. Kristin helped watch over the children while their mother was a patient. At one point the toddler had a diaper blow out and Kristin happened to be in the splash zone. She cleaned up the toddler the best she could with what the ED had available as the children were not brought with adequate childcare supplies. Kristin took her lunch break much earlier than normal to go home and change her own clothes that were
soiled from the toddler. She then proceeded to go to Walmart and buy the children clothes and toys and other care items, before returning from her ‘lunch break’. Through the entire time Kristin remained concerned for the mother’s wellbeing, getting support upon discharge, and reunification with her children. Kristin has one of the biggest hearts of any person I have ever met. She gives with all she has and to the upmost of her abilities. It was a sight this past December to see fun-sized Kristin push all her piles of wrapped Christmas presents through our break room door, presents purchased for our department’s Christmas family in need. Kristin’s caring and giving nature is palpable and radiates throughout the department when she is working. She is most definitely a Daisy nurse and truly deserves every bit of recognition for all that she does for our patients and community.”
